Be good to the cats. Be good to each other.
Whisker Friskers only works if caretakers trust it. These rules apply to every post, photo, caption, profile, comment, and private message. Breaking the ones in the first section gets you removed, permanently, on the first offense.
Last updated August 30, 2026 · These guidelines are part of the Terms of Use.
Zero tolerance. No warnings, no second chances.
Animal cruelty or neglect
No content that depicts, encourages, instructs, jokes about, or threatens harm to any animal — including poisoning, trapping to hurt, baiting, fighting, or abandoning. Documenting suspected cruelty to report it is different: send it to us and to animal control, do not post it publicly.
Harassment and threats
No bullying, pile-ons, stalking, sexual harassment, intimidation, or threats of violence against anyone. Feeding disagreements get heated — take it down a notch or take it offline.
Hate speech
No slurs or attacks based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, age, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation. No hate symbols.
Sexual content
No nudity, pornography, or sexually suggestive content, in posts or in messages. Anything sexualizing a minor is reported to law enforcement immediately.
Doxxing
No posting anyone’s home address, phone number, workplace, license plate, or other private information — not even the neighbor you are convinced is the problem.
Exact colony locations
Never post a precise address, cross street, feeding station, trap placement, or shelter spot — in a caption, a photo, or a DM. The map fuzzes locations on purpose. Do not undo that. This rule is what keeps colonies from being found and hurt.
Fake sightings
No invented cats, staged or reused photos, or false urgency to farm badges and cards. Fake data sends volunteers on wild goose chases and makes the map useless.
Spam and solicitation
No advertising, link farming, repeat posting, breeding or animal-sale offers, MLM pitches, or asking other users for money. Whisker Friskers handles no money and is not a fundraising platform.
Colony and trap etiquette
Most conflict in cat work is between people who all mean well. These are the house rules.
Somebody is probably already feeding that cat
Before you change a feeding routine, move a station, or take a cat somewhere, check the map and ask in the app. Assume there is a caretaker until you know otherwise.
Never touch someone else’s traps
Do not move, spring, open, or release from a trap you did not set. A sprung trap can mean a missed clinic appointment and weeks of lost work. If you think a trapped cat is in distress, contact the trapper through the app, and call animal control if it is urgent.
Ear-tipped means already handled
An ear-tipped cat has been fixed and vaccinated and belongs where it is. Log it, do not re-trap it, and do not “rescue” a healthy community cat away from its colony.
Coordinate, then commit
If you say you will hold a trap, drive to a clinic, or do recovery care, show up — or tell the group early enough that someone else can. Clinic slots are scarce in this city.
Respect private property and your neighbors
Get permission before trapping or feeding on someone’s property. Neighbors who dislike cats are not the enemy; a calm conversation prevents most poisonings and complaints.
Photos of cats, not of people
Keep identifiable people, house numbers, street signs, and license plates out of your photos. Post pictures of cats and their condition, not of your block.
Do not give medical advice
Share what a vet told you if you like, but do not diagnose, dose, or recommend medication for someone else’s cat. Whisker Friskers is not veterinary advice. Send people to a clinic.
The game is the garnish
Badges, points, cards, and ranks exist to keep people showing up. Never log, trap, or handle a cat for a badge. Badges, points, cards, and vouchers have no cash value and cannot be sold, traded for money, or redeemed for anything.
How to report and block
Report anything, in one tap
On any post, comment, photo, profile, or message: tap … → Report, pick a reason, tap Submit. It disappears from your feed right away and goes to a person for review. We respond as soon as possible, and always within 24 hours, removing content and ejecting users when a report is founded. Reports are private.
Block anyone, instantly
Tap a user’s name → … → Block. They are gone from your app immediately, cannot message you or see your content, and are not told. Manage blocks in Profile → Settings → Blocked Users. You never owe anyone an explanation for a block.
Before it ever posts
Every photo, caption, profile, and message is screened by automated filtering for cruelty, sexual content, hate speech, and abuse before it becomes visible to anyone. Flagged content is held for human review instead of published.
Or just email us
topher@whiskerfriskers.com reaches a real person at WHISKER FRISKERS, L.L.C. in New Orleans. Send a screenshot and a username. Same commitment: as soon as possible, always within 24 hours. Full step-by-step instructions live on the support page.
The enforcement ladder
What happens when a report is founded. We start where the behavior lands us — serious violations skip straight to the bottom rung.
- Step 1 Content removed and a warning. The post or message comes down and you get a note explaining which rule it broke. Minor, first-time, fixable.
- Step 2 Feature limits. Repeat problems cost you posting, messaging, or map access for a while, and badges or cards earned through the violation are revoked.
- Step 3 Temporary suspension. Your account is locked for 7 to 30 days. Coming back means agreeing to these guidelines again.
- Step 4 Permanent ban. The account is terminated and we refuse future service. Any of the “never allowed” violations lands here on the first offense, as does evading a block or ban. Cruelty, credible threats, and content sexualizing minors are also referred to law enforcement or animal welfare authorities.
Filing knowingly false reports to punish someone is itself a violation and moves you up this ladder. To appeal a decision, email topher@whiskerfriskers.com — we read every appeal, and our decision after review is final. The legal version of all of this is in the Terms of Use.
